The mission of the Lamorinda Wine Society is to provide Lamorinda with information about wine, including where to find the best values, and also to encourage enjoyment of wine and food and the related pursuit of knowledge. The site is still in its infancy and will continue to grow to meet these goals.

I pick the Top Wine and Spirit Deals using my own palate and the cost as the only arbiters of inclusion and position. I do not believe strongly in scoring wines, as they are dynamic, living foods that are not meant to compete with each other. They are alive and many variables influence how enjoyable they are, including who they are drank by and with whom; what the ambience and weather are like at that moment; what food is consumed with them; and the purpose of their consumption, among other factors. I enjoy all types of wine and spirits, by the way, and am not strongly biased toward specific varietals or liquors.

If you think something was overlooked, find a cheaper price or just disagree, let me know. Please keep in mind, though, that I do not include sales on mass-market brands. They are boring and also temporary. That is why you don’t see Safeway or Long’s in our lists.
